Brighton Beach is really unique. It is right next to Coney Island and there are lots of locals at the beach. When you get off the beach there is a main street with lots of shops, restaurants and Cafes. When you walk inside one of these establishments, you would think that you were walking into a European market. For instance, they have candy stores with hundreds of different chocolates and treats. Nothing like you see in a typical american stores. Then they have fish stores with caviar and smoked fish and bakeries will all kinds of pastries. To top if off there are huge markets that also have a restaurant section that you can get perogies, pickles, stuffed cabbage, fish and other Eastern European style food. A trip to the city of Brighton Beach is like stepping into another country. Oh, you better go to the beach first and then to the city as you probably won’t be able to fit into you swimsuit or bikini after a visit to the shops and markets.
