Jones Beach State Park – Not Just Sexy Swimsuits

Jones Beach State Park is located in Nassau County, New York State. More specifically, it is located on an island sharing the same name which in turn is joined to Long Island. It features both surf and still beaches, fishing spots, barbeque areas, a concert venue and much more.

Jones Beach State Park is known far and wide as a recreational venue in New York. As well as top-class beaches and other aquatic facilities, the park is home to the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater (a regular venue for concerts) and the Theodore Roosevelt Nature Center. In addition, the park plays host to the annual New York Air Show. Other attractions include mini-golf, beach-sports and a popular fishing spot at the western end of the park. The 13.5km surf beach facing the Atlantic Ocean is the perfect spot for surfers to show off their skills, and for bathers to show off their designer swimwear. This beach is immensely popular with young families, sunbathers, tourists and beach-sports enthusiasts alike. Children running around in bathing suits provide a sea of color and life, while tanned tourists in their bikinis and mens’ swim suits are also a sight to behold. It’s certainly not difficult to see why Jones Beach State Park is one of the east coast’s most popular swimming venues. Visitors who prefer not to swim at a surf beach, however, need not miss out on enjoying what the park has to offer. A half-mile bay offers still swimming with the additional benefit of being able to swim and lounge around in two piece suits in a bit more privacy, while there are also two popular swimming pools, the East and West Baths, in operation. Several companies also offer boat rentals or kayak hire.
